What is Data On-Ramping?
Our Data On-Ramping service is designed to ease the process for SMEs looking make the transition to cloud services (such as Google Apps, Amazon S3 and others).
Previously, the initial upload of existing data to cloud services providers was a painstakingly slow process - often taking many months, as this process is limited by the upstream bandwidth available on the customer premises.
Using our Data on-Ramping service, customers provide us with a copy of their existing data on a USB harddrive, system image or virtual machine; we then make use of our specially developed Data On-Ramping platform, leveraging the 35-140Mbps upstream bandwidth available to us via the NBN by using multiple NBN services in a multi-link aggregated configuration. Some of our remote customers have even elected to simply courier a USB hard-drive to us for upload - there is no need for us to gain physical access to your premises in most cases.
To provide an example, many of the SMEs we work with to migrate their existing email, calendars, contacts, share point Documents and company archives to cloud services have around 1-2 TB of data requiring Data On-Ramping.
Based on just 1TB of data to migrate, below are the best-case timeframe estimates to complete the migration to cloud services, assuming that the upload was left to run 24/7, and that there was no other traffic on the link, and a 10% protocol overhead.
Using ADSL2+ at ~ 1Mbps upload - 2387 hours (100 days)
Using ADSL2+ Annex M ~ 2.5Mbps upload - 954 hours (39 days)
Using 5Mbps/5Mbps SHDSL ~ 5 Mbps upload - 477 hours (20 days)
Using our NBN enabled Data On-Ramping service at ~ 35Mbps upload speed - 72 hours ( 3 days)
Using our NBN enabled Data On-Ramping service with multi-link aggregation at ~ 140 Mbps upload speed - 24 hours ( 1 days)
(Please note that these figures are intended as a guide only, and actual upload times may be impacted on by a number of external factors.)
Comparing our NBN enabled Data On-Ramping service to an ADSL2+ service (the most commonplace connection type for the smaller end of the SME segment), you will notice the potential 100 fold improvement on the required time to complete the migration.
This has the benefit of completing in a weekend what would have otherwise taken 3 months - allowing for a clean, swift cutover of services rather than a lengthy dual-platform changeover period that can often confuse and alienate users - leading to lost productivity, user pushback and a dramatic rise in support desk incidents.
Our Data On-Ramping service has been designed specifically around making the migration to cloud services as quick and painless as possible.
What Cloud services are currently supported by Data On-Ramping?
As of January 2012, we support the following:

What is VOIP?
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is a technology that allows your telephone calls to be routed across the internet through our VoIP partner GoTalk, resulting in significant cost savings and flexibility.
What is an IP PBX?
An IP PBX is a phone system that acts as the “gateway” to the outside world. Unlike a conventional PBX that requires a separate cabling network for voice, an IP PBX and IP handsets run on your existing IP Ethernet network, reducing cabling costs and clutter, and providing improved ROI for typically under-utilised LANs. Our IP PBX solutions are able to utilise VoIP, POTS, ISDN and GSM connections depending on your specific needs and providing you the "best of both worlds".
What is TrixBox
TrixBox is the software that powers every one of our IP PBX solutions, to offer a true enterprise grade unified communications environment. It is available in different versions to suit your specific requirements, whether it may be a 3 person office, or 500 seat call centre, there is a TrixBox version to suit your needs.
What about the voice quality?
Once the system is optimised for your particular situation by our specialists, the call quality is indistinguishable from a regular landline connection. We have numerous existing customers using our system ready to vouch for this! We're so certain you're going to love it, we even have a 2 week free trial so you can see for yourself before committing to anything.
How much will I save?
A lot. We see average savings to businesses using our VoIP solutions of around 50-60%. With the use of intelligent routing and GSM gateways, this savings can be as high as 75%, depending on the calling patterns of your organisation.
What are the other benefits of your TrixBox phone systems?
Flexibility - Change call routing rules, user settings and call behaviour in just minutes. Add a new handset to any place where you have an ethernet port - no special phone cabling required. User not at their desk? Have their calls automatically routed to their mobile phone until they return. If there is a feature you need, please ask us - the answer is almost certainly "yes"!
Scalability - Growing business? No problem, add a new user and handset in under 2 minutes with no downtime. Link two separate offices together and get unlimited free inter-office calls. Our TrixBox phone systems grow with you.
Portability - Moving office is no longer a hassle. With our VoIP system, you no longer have the hassle of having all of your phone lines disconnected and reconnected at your new premises, saving around $2000.00 for a typical ISDN PRI service. When you move, you only need to have your internet connection organised at your new premises and you're ready to go.
Productivity - Dial direct from your Microsoft Outlook Contacts, add remote work-from-home teleworkers, and get all of your voicemail delivered straight to your email inbox - no more wading through voice menus to get to the voicemail you want.
Can we convert our existing PBX system to use VoIP?
Yes. While you wont benefit from all the advantages of a full IP PBX, you will still benefit from the outbound call savings. Call us today for a free analysis and quote to VoIP-enable your existing system and start saving 50-60% on your call costs.
We need a whole new phone system - can you supply an entire phone system and provide installation?
Yes! Our IP PBX phone systems provide the best of both worlds - the flexibility and savings of VoIP, with full support for ISDN, POTS (regular telephone lines) and other traditional telephony services. We can even add a GSM gateway to give you free office-mobile and mobile-office calls!
We provide the whole solution - analysis, design, documentation, delivery, installation and configuration. Call or email us today for your free site analysis and quote.
Can we keep our existing phone numbers?
Yes. You have the option of porting your existing phone number(s) to become VoIP numbers, (giving you added flexibility and features including the ability to take simultaneous inbound calls on the same number, for example) or they can remain as they are and connect to your phone system via ISDN or POTS interface cards.
What about reliability?
In short, If you have a reliable, fast internet connection then your VoIP reliability will be great. However, we understand the importance of telephones to business, and we have systems in place to automatically monitor your VoIP connection and route your calls to an alternate number if your internet should ever fail, and switching back when your internet connection is restored.
What is the setup cost?
This will depend on whether you intend to modify your existing system, or install a complete, brand new telephone system. As a guide though, the savings you make using our systems typically provide an investment payback period of between 3 and 6 months.
We have an existing VoIP system, but it doesn't work properly - can you help us?
Yes! We have helped countless clients recover from poorly implemented VoIP systems, and fully unlock the potential of their investment. If we can't fix your VoIP system, you don't owe us a cent!
Do you offer a hosted IP-PBX solution?
We do offer a hosted PBX but we do it in a different way to our competitors. Hosted PBX systems are often difficult to manage and can be unpredictable in a typical office network environment. Multiple connections running through a single WAN gateway (modem) can have unpredictable effects, in many cases there is no way to resolve these issues without upgrading your hardware. Hosted systems on the other hand have their merits such as low setup costs (no need to buy a server), portability etc. It is for these reasons that we have developed VPN Telephony, a new way to connect to a hosted PBX system by using Open VPN technology.
How does a VPN Telephony Hosted System work?
Rather than simply connecting to a hosted server, our phones create their own virtual network and interact with our server as if you had your own server installed in your office. This reduces the erratic behaviour and instability that plagues non VPN systems and increases the number of phones you can safely operate on a single network.
What are the benefits of using a VPN hosted phone system?
Low setup costs - because you do not need to buy server hardware your setup costs are greatly reduced.
Portability - you can take your VPN handsets to any internet connection, anywhere in the world. Plug them in, turn them on and they will work just as if they were sitting on your office desk.
Scalability - should you need to add another extension, simply contact us and we can send you out a pre-configured handset. Plug it in and turn it on, it works rightout of the box!
Full PBX Features - our hosted VPN server offers many features such as
I'm interested, but would like to see a demo first - can you provide this?
We certainly can. Not only can we provide a demonstration of the system features at your premises, we can even provide some operational phones for you to test for a period of 5 days. We provide this service so that you can feel as confident about our systems as we do!

What are the features and benefits of Google Apps?

Ubiquitous access - your users are productive wherever they are - Google Apps can run entirely from just a web browser. Tired of Spam? - Google's world class spam filtering metrics mean you can say goodbye to spam, and get back to doing more important things.
What about storage?
25GB per user - and this figure is growing all the time to ensure you've never short of storage.
Can we migrate our existing users and email?
Yes, Google has developed specific tools to make this as easy as possible. Users can independently upload their mail from the desktop to Google servers, or a server-side bulk upload is available if you currently have IMAP deployed.
What is the cost to use Google Apps?
This is the best part, the cost is only US$50 per user per year.
Is there an uptime based Service Level Agreement?
99.9% uptime agreement. If for any reason this figure is not met, you're account is credited as per http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/terms/sla.html
What about off-line access?
Yes, with the Google Gears browser add-on, your users can have offline access to their mail and documents through their web browser.
